After 13 Years of Mental Health Struggles, Kelli and Her Boys Have More Safe Days at Home

Kelli and her two teenage sons are finally finding peace after many hard years. Both boys, Ahav (16) and Analiel (15), have serious mental health problems that started when they were very young. At age 3, both boys were diagnosed with autism. As they got older, they developed more problems like mood disorders, anxiety, and depression. Together, the boys have been in the hospital almost 90 times for mental health crises.

Everything changed when Imagine Pediatrics reached out to help. We work with Kelli’s insurance, UnitedHealthcare, to provide special care for kids with special health care needs. “For the first time ever, I didn’t have to take them to the emergency room during a crisis,” Kelli said. Instead, the Imagine Pediatrics team helped calm the boys down through video chat and made safety plans. Now the family gets ongoing support including weekly therapy and help with medications. The results have been amazing.

Who is Imagine Pediatrics?

We are a multidisciplinary, pediatrician-led medical group. We provide virtual and in-home care for children with special health care needs. Our team is made up of doctors, nurses, social workers, and other clinical team members.

We know that as a parent or caregiver, you face many challenges as you care for your child. That’s why we are ready, day and night, to help you get the high-quality care and support your child deserves.

We do not replace your child’s current doctors. We work with them to expand access to the medical, behavioral, and social support every patient needs. We help the children we care for avoid unnecessary emergency room visits and spend more time thriving at home and in their communities.

What can Imagine Pediatrics do for parents and caregivers?

When your child is enrolled in our services, parents and caregivers can call or message us anytime using our mobile app. We are ready to help 24/7. We will answer your questions, get on a video call, or, in some cases, visit your home to diagnose and treat your child. If your child has an acute episode, we can provide care and support right away, at any time of the day or night.

‍We work closely with parents and caregivers like you to support your child. We can help with medication and equipment. We can find specialists, set appointments, and complete paperwork. We can also connect you to other services that your child might need.

‍Almost everything we do is virtual, so our patients and their caregivers don’t have to leave home to get care and support. This often comes at no cost for eligible kids, because our services are part of their existing health plan benefits. We currently partner with health plans in Florida, Georgia, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington D.C. We are working to expand to other states in 2026 and beyond.

What is the purpose of the first meeting for caregivers and patients?

In our first conversation, we’ll help you enroll and download the Imagine Pediatrics Mobile App. This is also a time to share your child’s needs with us, so we can get to know your child better and help with your immediate needs. We understand that you know your child best. So, we listen to all the details of your child’s conditions and any resources you might need. This call helps us be ready to help you and your child quickly — whether they need care right then or at any time in the future.

What services does Imagine Pediatrics provide?

We provide medical, behavioral, and social care and support to children with special health care needs, 24/7. That includes unlimited access to complex-care pediatricians and other clinicians.

Our services include:

• Phone or mobile app communication day or night

• Virtual care visits

• Support during acute episodes

• In-home visits for diagnosis and treatment (in select geographies)

• Daily check-ins with parents/caregivers and their child

• Medication and equipment help

• Care coordination and scheduling

• Healthcare system navigation

• Access to social services programs

• Partnership with caregivers and private duty nurses

• Discharge coordination and post-discharge visits

What should I expect from Imagine Pediatrics?

You can expect to be heard and helped every step of the way. In each appointment or chat, we listen closely to you to learn all about your child’s needs and your family’s needs so that any time you need care we can help immediately. Our team of doctors, nurses, social workers, and other clinicians will be ready 24/7 to provide care and support. Whether you need help managing your child’s health, finding community resources, avoiding an unnecessary trip to the ER, or simply want peace of mind, your care team is always just a call or chat message away.

Will my child keep their regular doctors?

Yes, your child will keep all their current doctors.

We do not replace anyone on your child’s existing care team. We partner with their doctors to expand access to 24/7 care and support in the home. When your child has a change in symptoms, we will help decide if your child can be cared for at home, if they should get an in-home visit from a member of our care team, or if they should be taken to the emergency room.
‍
We also provide extra help to private duty nurses based in the home. We can help them get a prior authorization, medication refills, or equipment support. We are also available to them anytime they have a question or need a quick consultation.

Will my child still have access to a Service Coordinator (SC) at their health plan?

Yes, your child still has access to a Service Coordinator from their health plan. Imagine Pediatrics helps expand access to support for all those already providing care to your child.

How is Imagine Pediatrics offered at no cost?

We partner with health plans so we can offer our services often at no cost to families of children who qualify for our services. Imagine Pediatrics may be a part of your child’s existing benefits, so we can care for your child often at no cost to you.

What languages does Imagine Pediatrics support?

Our staff includes both English and Spanish speakers. We also have interpreter services available for patients and families who speak other languages.
